Today, we are going to take a “Posture of Peace” by living unafraid.
Posture is a short, audible fist bump to remind you, God is with you in everything. Together, we’re going to be emboldened to take a daily posture of perfect peace.
2 Timothy 1:7 says, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” Today, this week, this month, this year, I want us to rest in this promise like never before. Let’s not gloss over it, let’s not merely highlight it in our Bibles and only forget about it once we turn on the news today. In episode one or two, we talked about affliction and I was thinking about just the spirit of intimidation and fear that is running rampant right now. The worst part of affliction or trouble circumstances or crisis is fear. But God has not given you a spirit of fear. This is the truth. It’s in His word. He’s given you a spirit of power, love and a sound mind. This is not a concept, this is not an opinion, this is the word of God. This is who God says you are.
Romans 8:11 says, “The same spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you.” It’s obvious that these terrorizing spirits are making their rounds in the hearts and minds of people all over the globe, accusation, intimidation, manipulation. They’re all trying to masquerade themselves right now as discernment and wisdom and righteous activity. As if they are somehow the very will of God. It’s a lie, it’s a lie, it’s a lie. Romans 14:17 says, “The Kingdom of God is filled with righteousness, peace and joy.” Galatians 5, I know we’ve talked about it a lot before the fruit of the Spirit, the same spirit that lives in you is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.
Do not settle for less than that. Do not give yourself over to a lesser agenda. Do not embrace fear, do not be intimidated. Do not be manipulated into acting outside of yourself. Don’t be manipulated into living outside of your identity in Christ. Listen carefully, you have what it takes. I know you do, because I know the God who lives in you. Now is the time to be bold, to speak life, to walk in truth and to live like you have good news because you do. God has not given you a spirit of fear, but one of power and love and of a sound mind. So when you sense, fear, raise its ugly head in your heart, or in your mind, ask your helper, the Holy Spirit. How would a power-filled loving person with a sound mind respond to this?
The promise of “Perfect Peace” is found in Isaiah 26:3. In Hebrew, it is “shalom, shalom.” Meaning, complete wholeness. Nothing missing, nothing broken. This is who you are in Jesus. Because of Jesus, you are a living testimony of Jesus’s ultimate win. With every step you take today, you’re putting Jesus’s victory on display and satan’s defeat on replay.
