Today, we are going to take a “Posture of Peace” by fully embracing a glorious alternative to fragile living.

Posture is a short, audible fist bump to remind you, God is with you in everything. Together, we’re going to be emboldened to take a daily Posture of perfect peace.

Psalm 119:105 says this about the Lord. It says “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” This scripture, I have just been soaking up all weekend. And it was so cool because I literally could feel peace rise up within me as this promise settled in my heart and renewed my mind over the weekend. And I was reminded, it is often way too easy to allow the words of others to be the thing that leads me. Whether it’s something that someone said about me or to me, either positive affirmations or negative condemnations, good or bad, it is way too easy sometimes to be directed by those words. But it’s actually a very fragile way to live, allowing yourself to rise and fall in the current of people’s opinions and perceptions and even their actions. And we justify it, we process our decision making sometimes by saying things like, well, they did this to me, so I’m going to do this. Or she said this about me so I’m going to respond in this way. Or he really likes me so I need to do this to keep it that way. But this scripture reminds us that there is a glorious alternative to living so breakable. And that is letting God’s word lead you and guide you.

This song, this scripture, it says, “His word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” He brings clarity to our present and gives us direction for our future. And we must be aware that because of the age in which we live, we’re actually probably more susceptible to the words of others than ever before. Because of technology and screens and our modern day habits, we have constant information coming at us. People have more access to us than ever before, and we have more access to them.

However, it’s also extremely easy to access the word of God more than ever before. I have apps on my phone that will read the Bible to me that will send me a verse every day in my notifications that I can pull up multiple translations at one time. And even more than that, we always have constant access to our helper, the Holy spirit, and to the very presence of God. He is within us. So, remember He told us He’ll never leave us or forsake us. So we have not been abandoned this year. We have not ever been abandoned by God. So let us not abandon His word or His truth by allowing our thoughts, our feelings, our words, or actions be dictated by something or someone other than our God.

The promise of perfect peace is found in Isaiah 26:3, In Hebrew. It is shalom, shalom, meaning complete wholeness, nothing missing, nothing broken. This is who you are in Jesus, because of Jesus. You are a living testimony of Jesus’s ultimate win with every step you take today you’re putting Jesus’s victory on display and satan’s defeat on replay.
